At almost two and a half years of existence, Rome International Church (RIC) is growing and reaching its community. The church currently has 6 different “Life Groups” which include a group for youth, several for ladies, one for men at the US Embassy, two for families and the newest one is for refugees. Most take place during the week in peoples homes. Approximately 90 people are involved in these groups with an average attendance across the groups of 60 total. RIC is seeing around 60 people in worship each Sunday in worship, from approximately 10-15 different countries. We also support the work of the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center on via Nazionale in Rome, where we send volunteers and supplies as well as our financial support.
Celebrating Two Years and More!
On Jan 29, 2017 the church celebrated its 2nd anniversary with over 90 people present for the worship service. Our guest speaker was Rev. Scott Chadwick, President of the IBC and Pastor of the church in Munich. More than 70 people stayed for the lunch that followed the service at our favorite restaurant next door.
On May 5-6, 2017 the church had its 2nd Spring Retreat. Loren Holland and Chris Hendrix, the future pastors of the church, came from the US to lead the retreat in Santa Marinella. About 35 people attended and the discussion and teaching were on the Kingdom of God. On May 7th Loren and Chris led the service which was followed by a lunch at a nearby pizzeria where more than 50 people stayed to get to know them better, ask them questions and enjoy the fellowship of RIC.
Be in Prayer
The Hollands have just reached 100% of their needed budget through support raising and so they plan to arrive in Rome in early July 2017 just in time to transition with Brian Kirby and his family who are moving back to the Washington DC area in mid-July 2017. Continue to pray for the Hendrix who are raising their support and for the future leaders of the church.
