This begins our series called Meet the LEAD Team. A LEAD Team is a gathering of relationally and missionally committed leaders from a geographical region. Teams meet together regularly to build meaningful relationships, focus on spiritual growth, and work together to see mission accomplished through multiplying (planting) new churches. Our Southern Europe LEAD Team
Members of the Southern Europe LEAD Team live in countries where traffic is frenetic, economies are struggling and governments are unstable but the weather and the local residents are warm. Local bureaucratic inefficiencies are compensated by beautiful landscapes, tantalizing cuisine and learning to enjoy traditions of the surrounding communities.
When a person’s, a community’s, or a country’s stability is put in question, when they find the rocks upon which they used to find security have been swept away by unforeseen circumstances, they often start to look around for other lines of security upon which to hold and find their foundation. Put another way, trials and tragedy often lead us to search for something of more meaning and power that we cannot find in ourselves. Many people in Greece find themselves in just this situation; embroiled in economic, geopolitical and cultural upheaval, they are looking for meaning and peace amidst a world that seems chaotic and out of control. More than 50 people joined the “multiplication conversation” at our most recent MULTIPLY Conference! Twenty-five IBC churches were represented at the conference held just outside of Athens Greece on 28 March following the Ministry Leadership Conference. The purpose of the conference is to invite every IBC church into the conversation about multiplying English-language international churches around the world. The conference is a venue for discussing the many facets of international church planting, generate ideas and discover opportunities to inform and motivate our church multiplication efforts.
